Hi

I have a conservatory/outhouse that is actually two halves built separately by previous owners. Half is very good including the tiled floor which is solid and level and the second half is not so good and the floor is 60mm lower.

I'm going to screed the lower floor to raise it but what I want to know is whether it is ok to tile on the existing tiles part? If so what adhesive can anyone recommend to cover a mixture of tiles and sand cement?

Thanks

Tiling upon tiles is fine as long as they are sound and is often done.

Our bathroom is now 300mm smaller than when we moved in 13 years ago! Only kidding!

1. Agree with noseall.

2. Are both sub-floors of the same material i.e. solid etc?

3. Depending on the area of existing tile we would typically lift the in-place tile and start with a level playing field.

4. There is also the matter of the joint detailing where both surfaces meet?

5. Going on top of existing tile might bring you too high at the doors and at any in-place fixtures.
