Hi

Prob been asked many time but I cannot find a definitive answer.

I have standard floor boards in my kitchen but many of these are broken due to some extensive restoration in the property.

So with all the floor boards removed which will just leave me the joists 400mm apart - what flooring shall I put down?

Our future plan is to put down state tile effect wood flooring the clip together stuff.

I have heard that chipboard is crap! What other options do I have and what depth will I need?

Many Thanks in advance.

Any ideas, I could really do with knowing what size Ply to use to fix to my joists?

you could try 15 or 18 wbp ply,or replace with new floorboards as required.

plane - as long as you are not going to lay ceramic tilesthen use 18mm exterior grade ply. Any chance of tiles consider thicker ply. Try to use whole 8 x 4 sheets and any joins must be over joist mid-points or introduced noggins (extra cross timbers fixed to the joists). Failure to do this could result in the sheets flexing at the joins and cracking the floor covering. Screw the sheets down.
