Hi there,
I have a SV150 petrol engine that leaks fuel from the carb when stood for a long period/overnight.
It's as if fuel from the tank is filling up the carb and is over flowing.
I'm thinking of putting in an inline fuel shutoff valve.
Can anyone help with this problem?

Are the drain screws on the bowl tight?

There is also probably a rubber ring inside the bowl that might need changing.

Hi Alantro,
Yes, they are all tight. I checked the rubber seal and it seems fine.
If I start the engine there is no fuel leak.

The needle valve in the float chamber is passing fuel, either to a speck of dirt or general wear.
Its easy enough to clean, but if that fails an in line fuel tap is the way to go.....in fact all machines should have them.

I had the same issue yesterday. Cleaned carb and then watched fuel dripping from air filter housing. Took carb apart again and cleaned needle valve again and since then no dripping fuel.

Glad you got sorted. I prefer a Briggs engine over an SV150 engine any day.
