I have a Gainsborough Energy 2000x Shower which worked perfectly well until the last couple of months. Now after the shower has been on for quite a while the fuse in the main fuse box gets really hot and blows. Does anyone know what the problem might be.
Also as you have a 30A fuse this suggests it is an older type, and the majority of older fuse boxes are not designed to run at over 30A per circuit, and if you do try to use a fuse rated over 30A this may happen, then you really are in trouble.
This is why your THIRTY AMP fuse is getting HOT and BLOWING.
Who fitted this shower? Why didn't they change the supply arrangements?
You need a FIFTY AMP MCB and RCD feeding that shower. Which probably wont fit in your fuse box, as it was probably never intended for loads over 30 amps per circuit and 60 amps total. If the supply is upgraded to fifty amps, the cable will also need changing to 10mm², its probably 6mm² at the moment.
Get an electrician. ASAP. And DO NOT use that shower again.
^maybe it had the wrong (and thus unsafe) fuse wire in before and blew one day when the mains voltage was higher than normal or your shower was longer than normal, and since then its had 30 amp wire in so it keeps blowing -just one possibility.
dont go putting thicker wire in though as even if it was thicker before its notsafe, and even though it didnt go up in flames before its like driving with no seatbelt, just because it didnt kill you before. and as the circuit gets older the chance of it going up in flames increases.
looks like you might need some pro help, but post some photos and we'll point you in the right direction.
