Any middle aged person of white can be a gammon if they rant enough to cause the aforementioned pink complex skin aka gammon. It's not a self infliction it's a derogatory slur. Just as other terms referring to ones skin colour? Making it 'of Gammon' or Gammon it's the intent it doesn't lessen the offensive.
