Hello everyone,

I've got a few questions re: garage conversions i hope you can help,

1. When the new joists are laid straight on the slab, are they screw fixed to the slab?
2. Should i lay a dpm below the joists?
3. I noticed on the drawings timbers referred to as sw and wpd, i take it as softwood and something something drywood? Can anybody tell me what the difference is and when you should use drywood as oppose to softwood?

Thanks very much

yes, to fitting dpm under the floor joists.

how deep are the joists?

don't know about wpd though.

you would be better off fixing a 100 x 50mm joist down each wall then skew fixing the remaining joists between these.
