Hi would be grateful for some advice. Ive been asked to fit a 30cm fence along the top of this wall at the back. The wall is 2 meters high.

The problem is that this would then maje the boundary 230cm on this side. However they want to block out the view from the neighbour at the back. Now there property is built 70cm above this house.

So if we were to erect the 30cm fence on our sidetaking it to 230cm, if standing on their side it would still only be 160cm high. Can we therefore erect the 30cmfence on top of this wall legally? 20190715_152233.jpg

Says nowhere on 'your property' should it be higher than 2 meters. However, you're not going to complain about the height of your own fence, and if next doors side is within the limits, are they able to complain? They may do if you block out all their natural light I suppose. Has anyone popped around to ask if they'd mind?

    Who's wall is it?

Fit some brackets to the wall, add a shelf near the top.
Grow 30cm plants in pots, with some trailing ivy type hanging down

About a couple of years back they did ask the lady but she wasnt keen on the idea.

The wall seems to be shared by that house at the top (it runs along the length of their garden, and 5 houses whose gardens back onto to it.

  7. I don't think then if the wall is shared ownership that it can be done, without permission. Just leaves plants to block the view!
