sorry ban, i must be bonkers, Riz says she wants to put a larger type oven that may need a 6mm cable to feed it, she also has a flex coming from the gas ignition. if she has a 6mm cable underneath the worksurface at the moment switched via a cooker control unit above the worksurface please tell me how you would connect it, 2 x 6mm cables & 1 x 1mm or 1.5mm flex, cheers

Is there any way that I can connect the hob ignition to the same supply as the cooker or do I have to drop another spur from the 13a supply side of the cooker socket to below the worktop height.

I think I do but then again I am asking for advice on here which I was hoping would be provided but I am perhaps not explaining myself too well.
Is it permissable (under part 'P') to connect a 6mm T&E + a 2.5mm T&E to the same 45A Cooker Connection Unit (The one put in place by the Electrician and which follows the Cooker Supply Unit) as he has not provided a point for the hob ignition.
The idea is that I would then surface mount the 2.5 (Thru conduit) into a surface mounted patress (single socket).
OR
Do I need to drop a spur from the 13A ring supply (of the cooker outlet) into a single socket for the hob?

I have changed the kitchen, units, worktop & tiles but, unlike you, I haven't managed to change my tackle.
The last time I looked (Quite a while ago now) I was still a chap.
Riz why dont you do what i suggested earlier, put the 6mm cable into a new cooker control unit under the worksurface, it has nice large terminals which will take the 6mm, take a new piece of 6mm from the outgoing terminals to your oven and put a PLUG TOP (for ban) onto the hob flex and plug it in job done

Well if I really had to I'd probably replace the outlet plate with one of these:
One outgoing to the ovens, one to a socket or FCU for the hob depending on whether I wanted it plugged in or hard-wired, but ideally I'd do the whole thing differently and not have the fuse inaccessible.
IMHO anybody who is confused by "put a plug on the end of the flex" shouldn't be fiddling with their electrics.
hey hang on ban, your assuming Riz has an outlet plate behind the cooker, i was thinking there was a cable just coiled behind the oven, and my extra cooker control unit would be in the cupboard alongside the oven, so if in the future the oven was tripping an RCD or the hob ignition was going to earth and tripping an RCD Riz could disconnect the faulty item and still be able to cook. Riz how is your existing cooker connected, which maybe is what i should have asked first
