Guys I seem to have opened a discussion point. Thanks for all your efforts on this. this is what my Gas Fitter said:
'The problem you have is that when you do a test on a fire you close all doors and windows in order to do your flue test. (making sure that the flue pulls the product of combustion.)
In your predicament if both fires where running simultaneously or even one fire, and the opposing flue was pulling stronger you could end up with products of combustion being pulled back into the room. Hence the reason for only having one fire. If the dividing wall was there would not be problem'.

Hence why i said back on page one that both fires need testing separately and together .
This is all basic gas fire safety and sounds like he doesn't really know what he is talking about .
And as gaswizzard says even if one of fires failed the test you then try adding ventilation to see if it changes results

Thanks Gas 112 and everyone above, I'll put all this in front of him. He is a registered fitter, but maybe I'll give someone else a shot. Thanks once again everyone.
