Someone wanted to come in and pick over them just taking, very obviously, the ones they could sell.
I mentioned a couple of quid each to charity, and they vanished.
Not going to happen.

I gave a load of good ones to a neighbour's kids, and told them how to sell them, in groups, with low prices.
They're trying to get the max, one at a time, plus postage. FFS.
You can't help some people.

Well, look at it this way - even if they sell them all and and don't give a penny to charity, whoever buys them must want them, so they re going on to be used, rather than going on to be landfill.

It's why I give stuff away on freeycle - I don't much care if the person who takes something is then going to make money out of it in some way, I care more about reducing waste.

I am not "self-important".

It's just that some people, through ignorance, selfishness or laziness want to deny the importance of things I think are important, but finding themselves unable to justify such denials resort to personal attacks on me.

I'm not, of course, saying that you are such a person, but to say that believing that waste and destruction should be minimised makes someone self-important beggars belief.

I am advocating a policy which I genuinely, and sincerely, believe is essential to the best interests of the planet.

Not caring about some books is not appaling, it's just that you have your blinkered self important view of everything.
You need to recognise you're weird, blinkered, and not very bright, can't see a big picture, don't care about someone else's perspective on something, etc etc etc.
My wife died, they're her books. I'm dying, so I don't care about some books. I don't care about a lot of stuff, because I've got the other 99.9% to deal with. If that's not OK by you, then f off, I don't want to hear your drivellings telling me what I "should" do..

There are many opposing views expressed regularly in GD. YOU have a nasty and offensive HABIT.
Not a clique - it's called the rest of the world.
People are entitled to express their considered view relevant to them, without having the same trolling silly person chiming in with some pseudo righteous or childish "point" every single sodding time.
You're like the Mormons. Presumably you want to hear their point of view for debate every time they knock the door.

to read that I think you, just like everybody, should try to minimise waste.
