It cost £21500 and costs me a days overtime at work so it doesn't have to come out of any of the family money.

I'm as big a petrol head as anyone but at 42 a sense of reality kicks in, I've had a whole string of fast cars and if you gave me a free perfect summer's day every week hands down I'd be back in a 911 but in reality I get those days maybe once a month and when I do I'll go out on one of my motorbikes instead.

The rest of the time it doesn't really matter what I'm in as my work commutes a 40 mile round trip on a busy a road with very little overtaking opportunities in a car, the wife's is similar so running any fast car is just burning money in fuel and wear and tear, I'd rather drive what is a reasonable car to drive and spend the fuel costs on stuff for my daughter or holidays.

But you are welcome to your opinion.

You earn £21500 in a day overtime, so let's assume it's one and half time (rare these days) you are on roughly £14.500/day.
That's about £300k/month if you average 20 working days and over £3.5 million/year.
And what car do you drive?
A Tesla?!?!
Where's your Ferrari, Bugatti, Lambo???

Sorry I missed out the per month bit after the overtime, so the car cost 21.5k as I said, the loan I took out is £290pm which is just under £50 less than I get for a days overtime at work.

Hopefully that's clearer for you and as I only work 3 days a week 1 extra shift at work a month isn't a problem.

with a power to weight ratio of 339 bhp per tonne - you may have to worry about the £1500 for a set of tyres sooner than later

that is going to be ludicrously fast - we had a GLC 400 EV for a test drive last week - 490hp (181 hp / ton) and that was stupidly fast - your tesla is nearly double the power to weight ratio

In the aptly named ludicrous mode it's the equivalent of 610bhp so yes it gets down the road well enough.
