Going EV

So I joined the fully electric club today, decided I fancied seeing what it was all about and as I can charge it for free at work should see a projected saving of 4k a year on fuel.
How have you brought a new car and everyone is dissing it

Personally not for me but 4k a year in saving from fuel. thats a sensible choice. Teslas are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

Plus you have enough money to have another vehicle for when you want a drive on a nice day.

Anyway, its a nice car.

They're even worse.
Everyone I know who's been fooled into leasing one of them, can't wait to get to the end of the 3 year con.
I've been in a couple of them and they're hilariously badly built.
They look like Fiat for the rich :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I know plenty who are very happy with theirs. The build quality of the Chinese-made ones is a fair bit better than that of the American-made ones. Not my cup of tea, but generally reckoned to do the job pretty well...

Just like every Fiat driver is happy with their Fiat! :ROFLMAO:

Yes, I daresay. If they weren't, Fiat would go out of business. Same applies to all cars. Those whose owners are happy with them, are likely to get another. Maybe that's why the Tesla Model Y is the world's best (or second best, it's a while since I've looked)-selling car, eh? ;)

On the subject of electric engine power, speed and restraint, I'm trying really quite hard not to buy an MG4 XPower...

The new electric Jag looks...

weird.; like something out of Thunderbirds.

It has no rear window, will not fit into a UK parking space and – starting at £130,000 – ($172,000) is aimed squarely at rich tech industry buyers driving the wide open roads of America. The car will go on sale in early 2027, with the first deliveries anticipated in the second half of the year.

i wonder if it will have stupid low profle tyres giving a noisy and uncomfortable ride, and a giant infotainment screen with confusing menus and the ride so shockingly hard that it is near impossible to hover your finger over the desired button long enough to press it.

cars now seem to be designed for perfectly tarmac'd autobahns by folk who only have experience of driving simulators

A chap on another forum I hang out on, is on his second, and is delighted. His first had a bit of a steering vibration that was impossible to cure - apparently a lot of early ones suffered from that, but after a load of moaning, they offered him a cracking deal to exchange it for a new one, which he says is fine and he's chuffed with it. Goes on long road trips around France and Spain in it too. It's the go-faster version, which is truly insane!

some folk by the oddest things because its the 'in thing' i'm sure many will climb into there tesla's after a few months and suddenly think, why did i buy this.

They're leaving it a bit late then! Tesla started selling EVs here in 2008 - volume ones in 2014. How long were you planning on giving people to regret their choice? Around 65% of UK Tesla drivers replace their Teslas with another Tesla. Industry average overall, is closer to 42%...
