Have you used it lately? They've got photographs at road level of almost all major cities in the world (not London yet). In Australia even little tin-pot towns are covered.

Here's a test. Put this address into google and it will bring up a map.

Hugh Street Ashfield NSW

Click on the street level link.
I used to live on that street.

At that very spot (use the gadget to look around),

I fell off my motorbike doing a U turn.
My lad fell and broke his tooth on his pencil.
Another day he fell over and broke his arm.
I met ex Man U manager Tommy Docherty walking up that very road.

It's lots of fun. I can go to any place I've ever visited in Oz now.

try 118 hibiscus drive TN ;)

That's an interesting area. I love that little house opposite the supermarket on main street. Pale green I think with a really tall veranda.

It's just so different from the towns we live in here. How do you like it?

I also lived here in a bedsit when I was 17. Rough area.

43 George Street Redfern NSW.

And an even rougher one on the edge of the red light district when I was 18.
It was like the Wild West in those days. Murders and shootings galore.

121 Victoria St, Potts Point, NSW, Australia

How much if any of UK has street views?

google have been out photographing streets around the whole of UK in preparation for a full launch of streetview on Uk streets. There were concerns raised about how useful google will now be to burglars

I used to live in the flats at 2 Hutchinson St Auburn NSW not too far from Ashfield, just had a look and has not changed, used to work on the pipelines from the refinery at Rosehill to Botany, they passed through Ashfield AFAIR, went to nightschool in Redfern definitely a rough area, the teacher used to ask us to leave in pairs after class
