I am planning on making a gravel driveway. we currently have a concrete style driveway which I will be digging up.
I am just wondering what depth I need to dig down and what depth do I need to make the subcore/type 1.

The ground underneath is sand as where we live used to be sand dunes so does that alter the depth of the subcore.

Also do I need to put a membrane down under the subcore.

Sorry if this obvious but there seems to be many different ideas on how best to do it, so I am a bit confused.

Thanks

Reinforcing membrane, 100-150mm MOT, and then your gravel

The membrane should be a proper reinforcing geotextile, not the cheap weed barrier from the garden centre. You'll have to google for products

In some situations a further membrane goes between the MOT and the gravel.
