Another good reason to replace the consumer unit when buying any second hand house!

hmm, Switchfuse...fuseswitch....switchfuse...fuseswitch

(yes, I know a fuseswitch is something different before anyone feels the need....)

Was a shower circuit I condemned...

9.5kW shower on 6mm² cable, via a 104 Wylex (the old one rated at 30A), with a circuit length of 20m trailing through 7m of 200mm loft insulation.

Nice!

They did very well to get the DI tail into the fuse terminal.

Did you get the job to replace it?

Or was the fuse back in before you'd put the van into reverse?

Yes, I have replaced the CU with one inside the property (these were in the external cabinet). It is not our policy to fit CU's in external cabinets, so I had to transfer it indoors.

Luckily, the circuit cables were capped down the wall on the other side of the cabinet, so I gingerly chopped out the plaster & capping and fixed a replacement CU over the mess.

The shower circuit I have just quoted to replace. In the meantime, that small length of 6 milli is dangling unattached in the meter cabinet!
