Have a rental property which requires hard wired soke alarms - will have an electrician do the work but can the supply be taken from the lighting circuit?

just trying to get an idea of the work/cost involved in doing this work. The first floor will be straight forward as there is an attic but the ground floor will be an issue in terms of potential distrubance to decor

imo it's preferable to feed smoke alarm circuits off a local lighting system. this stops people from switching off the circuit when 1 of the alarms bleeps intrmittently due to the battery needing replacing.
it is well within the regs and also complies with the BS for smoke alarms.
you could get your sparks to fit radio alarms. these inter-connect via radio waves, so each 1 can be picked up from the nearest available lighting cct, regardless of them being on different ccts. they cost more, but time saved on labour and decoration should address the cost issue.

Would you trust your life to a gimmik lostthewill?

Why should FIXED equipment be wireless, when it needn't be?
