Hi this brown staining has suddenly appeared round a kitchen heat alarm that was fitted in February. Any idea what could cause it? We didn’t fit it was done by electrician

Another floor not sure if it’s the bedroom or adjacent bathroom.

Ceiling was also plastered before new kitchen was installed a few weeks before

So probably not a condensation problem.
There could be a small leak from the bathroom / C/H, that is tracking along the new wires to the heat alarm?

Not mains wired I don’t think interconnecting battery

Ok, odd!
Then could it be grease marks from a very grubby installer!?
If you can, take the alarm down and double check there's no wiring behind!
The ceiling might just need a clean and the paint touched up.
Are there any marks around other items he installed - it may only show up like this here, because of the moisture/grease in the kitchen?

Wonder if this is the case. Heat alarm removed no discolouration on that. No leak under bath. When I wipe the marks with soap water they come off.
