Hi All,

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend and have realised that I have little information to give you!!

They've tried to put the heating on but it will only work with the hot water on at the same time. They've fiddled about with the timer (a Lifestyle LP241) but haven't had any luck and don't have any instructions for it.

I'm assuming that they have a conventional boiler but not sure.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Thank you

Ronnie

I'm assuming that they have a conventional boiler but not sure.

if your not sure, im sure we don't

The reason I think it's conventional is because they said they have to turn the hot water on to get the heating to work and because the timer controls hot water and central heating.

If they had a combi, the timer would only be controlling the central heating and the only time the water would be on is when they turned a tap on.

Hope that clarifies.

Ronnie

Sounds like the heating zone valve head's microswitch has gone. Needs a new head from the vague description.

ya need more info on the system, has it always been like this? if it hasnt mite jus be a synchron motor

From the very limited info I assumed that as the heating worked when the HW came on then the motor had turned to open the valve body but the microswitch was knackered and not supply the switched live to tell the boiler to come on for heating only.
