Hi

I am looking for a new cordless combi drill for general DIY use.

My criteria is (in no order):

a) Good quality
b) Durable
c) Li-Ion
d) Fast recharge times
e) 18V
f) ~3Ah

So far I have sort listed:

Makita BHP451RFE
Makita BHP452RFE
Bosch GSB18VE2Li

Are these 3 models any good? I have a budget of about £300.

Thanks in advance.

Personally I'd go for the Bosch. It ticks all your boxes and has a 3 year warranty if you register it on line.

Makita have had gearbox problems on some of their heavier duty range (LXT), and problems with their lithium batteries - they don't have any sort of electronic protection and it has led to some batteries having a drastically reduced life time.

Why do you want to spend that sort of money for DIY use? You can get a decent one fore less than £100.
