help me please

i have a 10 year old powermax boiler 135 model. A heateam engineer called the other day to service the boiler, and i mentioned it had started to bang.
he looked at it said the heat exchanger has gone and cant be fixed because they cannot get a part for it as it is obsolete.

I have called people in and whilst i appreciate it is expensive to replace , they atre talking about ripping my ceiling out to replace the flue. Is there any boiler out there that would echange like for like.

Even a like for like boiler would need the flue replacing. Repairing a hole in the ceiling is not difficult. Maybe the nice boiler man will make good after. Have to check on powermax, there may well be alternative, cant think wot ther're called at the moment. Check online?

i am not worried about the cost because i need a boiler but all the heating engineers wont touch it as it is not worth there while apparently , i have heating and water but it is the banging every hour that is the problem .

I cant rip the ceiling out as i am in a block of flats

If you are truly desperate and the flat is well insulated you could consider an electric boiler which will not require a flu. Sure it will be expensive to run but gas prices may rise in the future.

im a powermax specialist and your boiler does not need replacing it can be fixed for under £300 guranteedthe banging is called kettling and you need a "pump conversion kit" fitted. email me at [email protected]
