I've moved into a new house and the rayburn is running out of oil, and my central heating is locking out. Not good at this time of year.

I've just re-filled my tank, so it could be debris in the line, but it's unlikley that debris would block both - it's happened in the past and it tends to get sucked into the boiler.

So I'm blaming the filter on the oil tank. I've just poured hot water over it in case water has frozen in there, but the whole assembly is stiff as heck and removing the open\close wheel seems to do nothing at all. So I'm nervous of removing and cleaning the filter.....

.....what should do.

....update - despit e the hot water I still seem to be locking out.

Hopefully fixed. Loads of gunk in the tank filter.

Fingers crossed that the gunk's not in the oil lines....

To anybody who has an atkinson tankmaster, the oil shut off does work even if the shut off wheel doesn't seem to do anything.

The Atkinson tank valve has an aluminium handwheel that turns the supply off and on, and there's also a plunger that you pull to operate a sight gauge. The gauge may be left hand thread, but there should be a small circlip on the spindle that passes through the hand wheel for the internal plunger to bear on.
