Hi all. I'm replacing the old white light switches in my hall with chrome ones. The new chrome light switch has three connections on the back labelled COM, 1 WAY, 2 WAY.

The old light switch has the word 'intermediate' on the back and has 4 connections on the back. There are two cables coming out from the wall the reds are looped together outside the switch. 1 has a yellow wire, 2 blue, 3 blue, 4 yellow. The earths are connected to the back of the box.

.(1) .(2)

.(3) .(4)

How do I connect my new switch which looks like this:

.(1)

.(2) .(3)

Or have I gone and bought the wrong light switch?

Thanks in advance.

You have brought the wrong light switch, you need to buy an intermediate one. Also, please note you can only fit a metal switch if you have an earth in the back box.
