the problem is my new fitting does not have 4 blocks only 3 would i connet the 3live together and the last to my new fitting?

Permanent lives in a connector block separate from the terminals in the luminaire. Switch wire (black conductor with red sleeving) to the live terminal of your luminaire.

yes you answerd your own question the marked switch live to live on your fitting blacks to neutral and 3 reds on a new con block

SORRY i got this wrong!

the current fitting as follows

3x blue connected

4x green connected

4x brown connected

1x blue connected {this has black sleeve}

further help needed please

Sounds like the 4 browns need to be connected together and to nothing else - use a single piece of block on its own for this purpose.
All 4 earths to the earth terminal.
The blue with black (or is it brown :wink: ) sleeve to the L terminal.
The other 3 blues to the N terminal.

done this in the for a fan light in the dining room! but when i hooked up the one in the sitting room with only 2 cables i cant get the fan working when the light is on (unlike the dinig room). the lights come on and off with the switch but the fan will only come on when the light switch is off?
