This is currently what I have but I have bridged the hw and ch off to get it to work as I can't understand how to get the hw off?

It sounds like you have an old gravity fed system. I guess you were unable to separate DHW and CH before?
I'm not a heating specialist, but I think that you need a pumped/valve - controlled S or Y plan to do this.

Just wire it as is was before, and set the hive to gravity mode. If you want separate control of heating and hot water you will likely need to remove the satchwell box and put all the connections into a central heating wiring centre following a y plan diagram. any chance of some photos of the actual wiring and controls?

Where is the current time clock? is it wired to the satchwell box or the 6 pin connector to the boiler?

Looking at your old clock you could have HW only or HW and CH but NOT CH only.
So as Echo says you will need to set your hive to gravity mode for it to work correctly.
To do this switch the power off then back on again then press and hold the HW button for about 10 seconds until the top light turns blue.
There is a way to make the CH work on it's own, though will need to get an extra wire from the hive HW off terminal to your 3 port valve's grey wire (assuming it is a standard 3 port valve)

Ok yes I believe it is standard 3 port valve, white grey blue orange? From memory
Grey to hw off and set up to gravity, right in on it tomorrow and I'll let you know how I get on,
Thanks guys really appreciate this it's been annoying me for weeks,

If you connect the grey wire to HW off then you don't need to set it to gravity.
