Would have suggested Malta - I returned there 15 times in 18 years, missed for some 15 years then about 10 years ago; but their attitudes have changed, us British aren't loved as much as we were. There still is lots to see and do, even the 3 cities were friendly last time I went but not sure nowadays. Many historical sites to visit, only one proper beach on Malta, several on Gozo.
Selima/Patcheville/St Julians, in my opinion is the best place to stop, close to Valletta and has good bus connections. Not cheap any more.
They did invite boat people for while until, like Lampedusa, became over ran.
Portugal? Or better still - Madera. Been there twice. Things to do and tour around but not sure if it suits teenage girls.
Cuba - went there in 2015; did a 3 centre holiday, Havana, Valedaro, and Cayo Largo. Havana - did a tour to the west of the island and a walking tour of Havana; Hemingway's favourite bars, and house, Revolution square and similar. Hotel in Havana was the Iberostar Parque Central. Valedaro was a Beach - lots of hotels and a couple of night clubs. Cayo Largo was water sports, Russians and Canadians - what a combination...
If you wish to go find a travel agency that specialises in Cuba rather than a general one.
I've been to a couple of the 'Leeward Islands', unfortunately they are in the USA sphere of influence and costs.
Southern Island? e.g. south coast or County Kerry.
