Having fitted an main RCD incomer at a mates house, his oven is now tripping the RCD, every time its turned on, I suspect the one of the element is on its way out and is making the RCD operate, I havnt had chance to get to have a look yet, Has anyone got any advice on what to look for, The first check ill be doing is a few megger tests, so would it work if i was to test between the 13A plugtop and earth, with the oven in the on position, and if i find it flat down, then isoslate one element or other component such as the simple oven light at a time, to see if it alters the readings, I dont have too much experience on ovens

It seems quite common for heating elements to have enough earth leakage to trip rcd's, personally I think I would just disconnect them & test them individually rather than in cct.

Check all connections in cooker point and circuit to make sure they are made correctly.

If the oven has a timer you will usually get a failed insulation resisitance test if you try Live to Earth (neons, electronics, etc). You need to check each element seperately.

You will normally get different readings on the elements when they are hot and cold (they may be ok cold but fail when hot)
