Hi,

I have inherited this boiler. It is a 45kW TRIANCO TRO 37/45 oil boiler. Probably about 30 years old.

I let the oil run out completely and have now refilled the tank with 500l.

Before I try to start the boiler I am wondering if I need to bleed the pump to get all the air from the oil line.

I've been looking for a bleed screw near the bottom of the pump housing but can't see anything obvious.

Also, can anyone tell me why the brass valve (inline on the copper pipe) has a left-hand thread on the circular thumb-wheel. If this a valve to adjust the flow / turn oil supply on/off / other reason...?

Any tips?

Ian

Your valve is a fire valve Ian - no need to touch that but it can be used to isolate oil from the oil tank.
Find the steel flexy braided pipe that enters the burner oil pump. Crack the nut loose and so long as your system is gravity fed, the oil will purge its air from there.
Then, give the burner another start.
John :)
