You must check that all mandatory rear-view mirrors or indirect vision devices provide an adequate view to the rear from the driver’s seat.

You do not need to adjust mirrors or devices for this check.

Indirect vision cameras may replace mirrors on some vehicles. If such devices are fitted, you must inspect the camera(s) and the screen.

Rear view mirrors and indirect vision devices can be any of the following positions:

1. a. an exterior mirror or device that provides a view along the offside of the vehicle
2. b. an exterior mirror or device that provides a view along the nearside of the vehicle
3. c. an interior mirror or device which provides a view to the rear of the vehicle

5) If it's a convoy, a car behind can FO. But sadly when leaving the gap to the next vehicle that you should that looks big enough to bell ends for them to overtake you and drop into.

Don't compete. Let them win the muppet of the year award and bugger off.

All that matters is that if there's an emergency then they're no longer going to plough into the back of your car, probably writing off your car and injuring you and your family.

Them now being ahead of you will probably make one fart worth of difference to your journey time - it doesn't matter.

I'd add that when I do indicate left, pull over and gently brake I've already checked that the road ahead is straight and clear. They've already passed the stupid test by tailgating, so I don't rely on them having the intelligence to make a decision.

What I find surprising is the number who don't even want to overtake. Many don't even understand what the issue is, they just think I'm weird. In which case I get slower until they do bugger off, probably ranting all the way.

Don't try to out-stupid an idiot, they'll definitely win however much you escalate.

Most testers would issue an advise for it being smashed. I would. Id also fail it if it had sharp edges that could injure a pedestrian.

But can't fail it for being smashed, or not even there.
