How to connect these strip lights

Hi,

Looking for a warm white LED strip to fit under my kitchen cabinets. Ideally, I would like one with a remote control - although do not want the RGB coloured LED's, just warm white.

I would need to cut a strip for each side of the hob. How would I reconnect these, would it be a case of soldering some wire between the two? What gauge wire?

I have found the wire on eBay, here

Is this just normal speaker wire?

It's just wire - you can use pretty much anything which will carry the current the strips will take.

Hence my question is it just speaker wire....as I have loads of that kicking around. The LED strips have a wattage of 23w.

2A for the whole 5m - as long as it's not bell wire it should be fine.

I'm not sure, will you still need a DBS battery pack when used for this lighting application?
