I just want to make something I can a) paint and b) lift off when needed , I'm not v practical, just need something equivalent to a drawer with one end missing.

A simple MDF box would surely do the trick. 18mm could be screwed together and the screw head filled with body filler and sanded

Do you have any tools at all? I.e. cordless drill, saw, plane, drill bits, etc?

the last one i made was designed with the back forward from the sides around 3"
the back has a cutout for the main switch the fusebox and the meter
there is a shelve in the middle
its around 18" deep and a fully functioning cupboard without wires showing that stays in place by weight but can be removed quickly for access

If anyone has bothered to look at the situation the consumer unit is jammed in between a door opening and a window and is not very high off the floor. Damned if I know of a radiator that small! All it needs is a small MDF box making to go over it (4 pieces of material) - but it will probably need to be scribed to the wall on the right hand side
