How to reduce knife/violent crime in our cities

So you think that taxing us to the bones and spending money like there's no tomorrow, is the best way to go.
In that case I retire to my corner to roll my jaw back up...
Not what I've said at all

Just pointing out that the numbers were cut under Tories, and need rebuilding.

But we can't have numbers without cost. You have to choose which you want most

Provide everyone with a decent job and future.
I would guess the ones doing the knife crime don't want a job and prefer being on benefits for 'mental health' or something

Scraping the entire benefit system would go a long way to solving our nations problems

Or do you mean a job that pays no more than benefits isn't appealing

Proper jobs that people and families can afford to live on would be different. Imagine giving hope to people and their future just by giving a better standard of living.

Nothing wrong with a welfare system, but work needs to pay enough to live on. The welfare net needs to be there though

Do you think the public debt can be serviced by private investment?
No, not at all
But sensible spending would go a long way.
Should we mention £100 million for Notting hill carnival?

Numbers have been cut drastically by the midget.
In the climate of exponential crime growth we live today, (and population growth) police numbers should be increased, not cut
That would cause the poor to seek criminal activities to survive.
I know many poor people and they don't commit crime.
That's just an excuse for the liberal communists to chew on.

5 yr prison sentence for carrying a knife without good reason, mandatory life sentence for using one in violence. Second offence for carrying also life.

Let's not mention Mone.

You really aren't looking at the actual details

I don't disagree, but that means more prisons, more staff

More cost.

I'm not disagreeing.

But some, lots, don't like, or even see, the costs involved.

I'm for, better public services and systems.
The way I see it is there would be an initial influx of offenders which would dramatically tail off as these thugs realise they are going away if they carry and even worse if they use the knife. i doubt many would continue

If it is going to be a financial burden and unrealistic to putting them in prisons, why not build cheap prison blocks in Rwanda and send them there to complete their sentence. Utilise the deal we have with Rwada already for ilegal immigrants, just swap out the ilegal immigrants for knife crime prisoners.

Evidence from 'Murca showed that, while overall crime numbers were reduced by "three strikes and you're out" sentencing policies, the crimes that were committed were more violent and the murder rate increased.
