How to sort out raised carpet bubble on the stairs?

Hi
Overnight I have noticed some raised bubbles on the carpet of my stairs.I suspect they developed after I used some white spirit to clean the carpet in spots to clear out some paint droplets. But I am now worried that they may worsen or become tripping hazards.
Can it be sorted? I know that furniture dimples can be sorted with some ice.But here the carpet is raised a bit! Can some one please help? Thanks. Megan.
