I wouldn't dispute it, and it certainly makes a mockery of Notch's suggestion that France takes in 3 x more asylum seekers than the UK.

Think about it - lots of these refugees have given their savings to traffickers to reach here, people with money are most likely to have had decent jobs, so could be professionals with professional qualifications.
If they have professional qualifications but from a foreign examining body, it’s perfectly possible for UK to get these people retrained to suit British systems.

If you only look at asylum granted to refugees (so not people with other forms of humanitarian protection), the UK is fourth behind Germany (61,350), France (27,135) and Austria (14,815).
The story is similar in 2017. Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Sweden all granted asylum to more people than the UK, and all but Italy granted asylum to more refugees than the UK
