Anyone know where I can buy some high resistance stainless wire to re-string an ice cutter grid working on 12V

would it be stainless or some other alloy?

you could try welding wire..
maybe guitar strings?

I am assuming stainless because of the application but to be honest I dont know I have effected a temporary repair in the past by using a guitar E string from a old set and it works ok but unfortunatly they rust so what ever guitar strings are made of this wire is not if you get my drift can you suggest a company mabey I could send a sample to

there's a company round here that makes alloy wires..
it might be titanium, niobium, or any number of alloys..

stainless steel welding wire might work ok..

Constantan (Nickel / copper) is an alloy often used in such applications.

I'm assuming this is the cutter grid from a whirlpool ice machine, do youself a favour and just buy a new grid they are not that expensive, if you get the wrong wire it will not heat up enough or just blow the fuse.

Hi Racket yep the K40 I always kept a few restrung by a old bloke I knew but I moved away 6 years back and only do a few refigeration jobs now. any way the ones he done for me and a few other fridge guys never ever needed redoing so I thought Id give it a go but they are not dear £35 quid fron SRW it's one of those "I wonder jobs"
