I only attempted the HX repair coz the old girl had sentimental value really!
Nah! I had a bit of time, the ability and could have done without the expense of renewal, leading up to Xmas. I knew a new boiler was on the cards about a year ago and I was grateful for the 20 years of trouble free service she'd given us, plus however long before we bought the property! If my new ATAG came with that length of guarantee, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid!
As for customers, I still get perplexed when some continually ask us to "yet again" repair their boiler, that we advised should be renewed, several visits previously!
Even though it's more £'s for our business; continuous repair vs replacement makes no economical sense!
