All my hot water requirements are normally supplied by an oil fired cooker/boiler. However, in a few weeks time the unit is being replaced by a later model. This means that I will be without a boiler for a couple of days or so. So to avoid a large leccy bill can someone advise how long it will take for a standard immersion heater to heat a cylinderfull of water from say 10 degrees to the normal thermostat temperature.

TIA

Whats the power of the immersion heater and the capacity of the cylinder ?

A 3kw element should raise the temp of 210l of water from 10 degrees to 55 degrees in about 3.5 hours Pt = (4.2 * L * T ) / 3600) / element power)
