having lost two toy cars done the bath out flows and past u bend have had to use hacksaw. I now have to refit new pipe and am lost, very lost. On bath side i have a thread 1 5/8" interior diameter, guessing that is a 2" pipe? On waste side have metric 400m diameter pipe. How do i conect the two, there was a kind of soldered plastic conection that i had to hacksaw through before.

ask this at your local plumbing supplies & they will pop behind counter & return with the correct fittings for you lol

Do you still have the u bend and does the imperial pipe come off from this? if so get a universal fernco connector (rubber with jubilee clips.) connect onto imperial on one side and metric on other.......15 quid??

Both 40mm and 1 1/2" fittings may use the same thread. Many metric plumbing fittings still use Imperial pipe threads.

Universal waste compression fittings can usually accommodate a fair range of pipe sizes.

You could take the mortal remains of your old trap along to the plumber's merchant, and see what they've got to match it.

I forgot to reply to say how good the Fernco product is. Simple to fit and works. Not the prettiest thing in the world though....and the bonus for me is if any of the 5 kids lose anything else down the bath again i just unhitch it...many thanks
