36 years. That's proper service.
Since I retired in 2010 the Navy has extended the age of retirement for those in specialist positions.
I know sailors who are now retiring at age 60+
All these would be desk jobs though as a life at sea is still one for the younger ones.

Be nice if it really benefitted us though. And be a recognised form of ID. I understand it isn't. Yet.
Well you can take up to four members of your family free admittance to Biuckingham palace, great eh. :cautious:

Eh? That doesn't follow.

..is what you said in response to queries when your military service occurred.

...which had already been established.
I was replying to someone else who said it ended in 2011, my reply was 2009.

Don’t take him on board mate. He thinks he’s special, when he’s an old builder, who’s jealous of people who do well.

He’s upset he’s not in the spot light anymore.

The Veteran's ID card is a relatively new initiative. Legislation by Parliament will be required to add it to the formal list of acceptable ID like the Passport and Driving Licence. Its going to happen hopefully soon as many raised the matter at recent election polling stations where the Veteran's ID was refused.

Out on civvy street for four years? And served 9 years in the Army? How did you manage to do a (war time) tour during the Iraqi conflict? I thought the last British troops left there in 2011 whereas combat operations ended in 2009...
this was it, didnt read it through I took it as you were saying it ended in 2011, I have read it now and for once I agree with your dates. I find your posts are a bit dull so I pay little attention to the full text.

Wasn’t something like it previously accepted?

It should be as they check the MOD records on your service before issuing them.

Eh? I clearly stated all troops were pulled from Iraq in 2011 and that combat operations ended in 2009 (April).

Who were you responding to?
Pete, he was replying to you as your text was up in his post, I simply replied to him not you with 2009. You jumped to conclusions as usual saying I joined in 2009. I didnt say that, you said that

Ah right. it's all clear now. So you joined earlier, served two tours of Afghanistan and one tour of Iraq in your first three years as a squaddie?

Then had a pause a re-joined for another six years?

Do you have your campaign medal?

Dont bother with him mate all he's good at is life sized Lego...apparently
God knows why I took him off ignore but just was curious what he was saying, soon as I saw it all. Yep good reason for popping the troll back on it again. Complete waste of time.

Just for the record not that I have to clarify anything. I served in two separate units one was a 3 year stint. The last stint was 6 years but then that is my business why I did this
Did you do all three combat tours in your first three years?

Told you already, I will not give out my service dates. I could make any up if I wanted and you wouldnt know the diference, Same as my degree. No dates will be given because of the same reason. Stop asking you will not get the answer.
