Hi Folks,

Just wondered if anyone out there had any advice with this problem?

I have this product http://www.waterguard.co.uk/ installed in my flat.

Since day 1 of living there it regulary cuts my water off even though i've most recently programmed it with ridiculous timings (i.e at the mo "lo" guard with a continous flow of 24+ hours).

I am 99.9% sure there is an electrical fault somewhere and not a leak as there is no evidence to suggest this and I have been living there for 4 years.

Is there anyway simple way to shut this system down to in effect stop this happening and allow a continous flow of water.

There are 3 wires from the unit (1 to a mains plug and the other 2 connected to pipes on the immersion heater).

Any advice would be welcome?
Thanks
Nat

Never seen this kind of system before, but...

The cleanest way to disable it is to replace the section of pipe with the value and flow switch, with a plain section of pipe, and then safely remove the circuitry.

The quick way may be, with the mains isolated, to disconnect the three wires coming out of the control unit to the valve, doing this at the control unit end.

Before doing this though, I would turn off the electricity mains, and then try to use water, to check what kind of valve is fitted. If the water still flows you should be ok to go ahead.

I don't know why the unit is fitted, though. I don't suppose there is some legal reason for it?

Also must warn that I'm only applying logic, as I have never come across one of these.

If you are having problems with your waterguard you should phone there help line ( low cost) 0871 2882238.

It sounds like the flow switch is stuck open, which means its telling the control panel that waters flowing all the time. Their may be something clogging it up, a clean out should sort it.

Its not £1.50 a minute. Its got to be cheaper & quicker than calling a plumber or electrician out who doesn't know what there looking for.
A 2 minute phone call could be all it takes to get your waterguard back up & running. That sounds reasonable to me.

Why not just have an 01226 number as your helpline? :? ("Your" because you clearly work for the company). 01226 is local for me too.

LOW cost is 0845 (local rate). MEDIUM cost is 0870/0871 (national rate). HIGH cost is 09** (who the hell knows what rate).

01/02/03 numbers are included free in many people's call packages. I mean, come on, you're in Barnsley, you know about the value of money   (A Donny man myself)
