Infra red sensor

I seem to have knocked an infra red sensor with my ladder while getting into a loft and now the alarm is not setting and giving the error code A6

What fault could this be and do you think a wire could have come loose.

Dont have the alarm details sorry.

Do you know what make and model your panel is?

The first thing to check for is a tamper fault. There's a little microswitch inside each detector to alert you if the cover is removed.

Maybe the cover has come open a bit when you knocked it? make sure it's pushed all the way on.

Just been back to the house and there was 2 magnetic contacts on the loft hatch which I had not lined up together so resulting in an error message.

Apparently older houses have their loft hatches alarmed as there are no dividing walls between the propertys.

Ive learnt something new and will watch out for this in the future.

Something that modern alarm installers often overlook. Even if there is a dividing wall it is often weak enough to be "dismantled" enough to gain access to the loft space above other people's rooms.

In 25 years I've never seen that. However, in areas that are unlit at the back of the house there are becoming quite frequent burglaries through the tiles and down through the loft. Our local police are recommending a Dual Tech in the loft in such places.

There was a flat in north London occupied by a hoarder who cut a loft hatch and boarded out the loft over three other flats as well as his own and filled the loft with junk ( which in his opinion was valuable engineering artifacts. )

In 25 years I've never seen that.

Not been around that much then Have seen and got loads, gives
a sense of security, like having a safe without actually having one.

Entry through the roof are extremely rare. (and dangerous)
