Hi

I have an electrician who I'm considering using to rewire my property.

When I check online it says he's registered with NICEIC for installation but not inspection.

Is this an issue? He can still provide all the necessary paperwork proving that the work was done by a competent individual right?

Cheers

No issue. The inspection bit refers to Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), which require more skills in the inspection and testing department than are needed to test and certify a rewire or new installation.

Anyone may (is allowed to) do Inspections even if not competent to do so.

Registration with NICEIC or similar body is not a requirement - although you might consider it a guarantee of something .

In this case, it’s probably just a guarantee that the electrician has handed over the wad of ££ that NICEY demand so that you can carry out an EICR.
Is there a qualification needed as well? 2391? I doubt it.

Of course, membership of any trade organisation, or the holding of any qualification, is no guarantee of anything at all. Better to rely on personal recommendations, and the Small Claims Courts when things go wrong
