I was just wondering if there are any special precautions to taken when installing 12V 50W dimmable downlights.
There are 19 to be installed plus two 12V 25W extractor fans.
These are to be added to a lighting circuit already consisting of three standard 230V light fittings and protected by a 6A mcb.
I just wanted to know if there is anything else i need to consider or would it be better to run a new circuit :?:

19 light at 50 watts per lamp is 950 watts

Thats is almost 4 amps so you may need to look at another 6 amp circuit for these lights.

And the inrush current to cold lamps and/or wound (toriodal) transformer(s) could take out a 6 amp MCD if they all switch on at the same time.

are you fitting dimmers on these lights? have you considered the dimmer de-rating for halogen loads?

Have you also considered the effect on your energy bills?
