Hi

My ceiling has the following wires.

2 brown
1 blue
2 yellow/green
1 blue with a brown sleeve

My light fitting has:

1 brown
1 blue
1 green/yellow

How would I attach these together?

Many thanks for any help.

Thanks so am I right in saying the two Browns coming out of the ceiling should be connected in a loop?

Blue to blue
Earth to earth
Brown to blue with brown cover

Probably. But not necessarily.

In any event, the term "loop" in this context refers to the permanent line looping from one light position to the next.

Please remember that you always have the right to remain silent when you don't know what you are talking about. I suggest you exercise that right.

for many years the terminal in a ceiling rose has been marked as Loop, usually 3 terminals too, so I assume, with lighting the term LOOP has no relation to a ring, it is as Bas says

You do, but someone decided to try and confuse the situation by trying to correct the terminology used, when in fact the terminology was already correct and well accepted.
