Hi All,

When seating the basin on the pedestal is there a preferred material for "bedding it in"?

Years ago, i put a new one in and was told to seat it on something called Plumbers Matte.

This was a putty like substance but i did not like the result as it always showed in the join.

Any suggestions???

Matt

if you want to sit it on something then plumbers mate is as good as anything, just use less of the stuff, and wipe any excess off straight away.

I hate plumbers mate. Useless for (almost) everything!

Many basins (it is NOT a sink!) say you should not actually support the basin with the pedestal - must be new new labour thinking. So you just have a wee gap to fill, which sanitary silicone would do. If you do want to support the basin, you can use tile cement, with a wipe of tile grout if it's dull.
