So to confirm the above is the solution?

That is correct, EFLImpudence's drawing works. If you have multiple live wires in your LP241 (like I did), you just have to make sure the right one goes in to L, otherwise when you turn on the power nothing will happen.

My old 240V thermostat is still plugged in (set to 30°c) until I can work out how to safely remove it.
