Instant messaging

My MSN's in my profile too, it's a different address from my primary email. I will now go through and see if I can add some of the regulars - I'm not sure I can immediately see any useful purpose, but we'll see...

People may have been thinking more along the lines of something like Triton - a free web based chat app - plenty of others that could be used as well....

mods, can we get this thread sticky?

That, is an admin issue.

To be honest, in my opinion, a chat room on here would cost too much, and be of little value to the forum. (Not to mention we could not moderate it ;) )

Besides, if there were a chat room, who would be left to reply to the posts?

chat room for regulars, forum for new posters / diyers

No reason why any group of people should not install one of the many IRC clients on their PCs.

Also, do services like Yahoo Messenger, and AIM etc allow many people to chat at the same?

I don't know about those two, I imagine so, but MSN messanger certainly does

(oh, if you want to use more than one of the services, look for a 3rd party client called trillian, keeps everything together)
