Leak in bathroom meant the plumber needed to remove section of kitchen ceiling to access pipes.
... and this is what was found

Dis-used immersion switch I'd wager.

And was the neon lit when it was found? (out of general interest)

I assumed immersion too (being a 20A switch) but seems like more work to stick it under the floor than leave in situ (unless the airing cupboard was being removed)

Where's the picture?

Looking up at the hole in the kitchen ceiling (I assume that's what you were asking ttc)

As already suggested, yes it's an obsolete immersion feed.
Nothing connected into the load side of the switch ... But yes ... it was actually switched on !
Not that it makes any difference really, just seemed absolutely barking !!!!

What have I done wrong? Always confuses me this posting pics on this website.
I dragged it out of my folder into the 'new thread' box, and it appeared ... I thought that was it ?!?
Sparkwright can obviously see it, as he commented on the neon.

Any advice ... anybody ?

I could see it to begin with, now I can't, and if I right click on the little question mark and 'open image in new tab', it takes me to google to log in. Is it on your google drive or something?
