Interesting pub conversion

100A TP is usually ok for a standard pub with maybe light catering, but if it's a proper commercial kitchen then you're going to be looking at 200A TP as a minimum.

Get on to the DNO now and start the ball rolling for a supply upgrade.

The last pub restaurant I did had a 100A TP head, which we enquired about having upgraded at the start of the job. They finally got back to us about 4 weeks before the contract finished and said it could not be upgraded. They would only install a new CT supply at the opposite end of the building to where the new panel board had been sited. It also required 15m of cobbled street to be dug up.

The fuse fairies had been today and left a note to sat it is a 100A fuse.

The customer has now told me his 2 cookers will be 13A cookers!! mmmm!!!

Only now waiting for info on walk in fridges!!! Any ideas chaps??

Testing has already failed ALL socket circuits!!

Looking at fire alarm, it has a board with relay to kill the sockets to the bar area and ents area should the alarm go off.

Decided to look in this unit, the ends of the socket ring finals have the earths cut off!!! This started alarm bells ringing, newish circuit in new colours, alarm system appears relatively new.

Can anyone explain why they may have cut ththe earths off??

Will take some pics tomorrow and post

Game over with the 100A SP then.
13A ovens is highly suspect - did they go down to Currys and get a couple of domestic ones?

Panel had no earth terminal, so know-nothing assume-all installer decides earths not required, cuts them off.

If that's an example of the quality of work, best price up for a whole new fire alarm as well.

Must admit, the cooker thing intrigues me a bit, however a chinese restaurant with a lot of gas burners, perhaps 13A ovens for keeping warm?!??!

Walk in fridges of major concern, however!!!!!! still waiting for the spec for these.

Alarm system, already decided need the pro's in, will be contacting protec in the a.m.
