Internet controlled thermostat and boiler timer control?

Are these kind of remote controlled internet systems any good?

Any any 'risks' involved (besides some hacker getting in and messing up the settings!)?

Any recommendations for particular units please?

The reason I ask is because of my mother - she has an aversion to anything to do with the gas-fired boiler (afraid that it will blow up if she does something wrong!). That includes simply setting the thermostat, and of course the control panel's timer settings are a nightmare for her so she always gets someone else to adjust them (usually me).

So I thought that if a remote controlled system was installed, I could then make the occasional adjustments for her from the comfort of my own PC.

Seems like a good idea ........... or is it? :)

Heatmiser do a couple of options. Function pretty much as you'd expect.

Does her daily routine vary enough to require regular adjustment or could you be more strategic with the settings such that only a single button-press is required for those occasions that demand it?

Regular adjustment isn't necessary, it's just that when adjustment IS necessary she won't do it herself.

She doesn't even like single button presses - basically, ANYTHING to do with the gas boiler she simply won't touch. She's fine with the washing machine, tumble dryer, cooker, microwave, etc but she's frightened of gas appliances blowing up in case she does 'something wrong'.
