I see Centrica (proprietor of British Gas) and National Grid have tumbled in value.

Down 46% and 28% respectively over twelve months

preparing for a labour government by moving there assets abroad , as corbyn/ McDonald have plans for mass nationlisation ;)

all the self employed will end up working for the state .

even talk of bringing in a hampton size tax , u will get a rebate :LOL:

Preparing for a Labour government would involve seats on a Quantas or Air Canada jet.

You whining grumblers are always promising to leave, but you never do.

We don't need to prepare for the IRA's preferred leader to be in government, that's why.

British Gas is being investigated for making higher profits than it's supposed to be making, and it may have to be broken up to reduce it's market dominance. If it gets broken up, then it won't be so profotable, simple as that.

So it's amazing that JD can twist this to a Corbyn leadership indicator.

No twisting required.

Silly doggitt.

Investors are happy to own shares in a profiteering national utility.

They are scared of owning a profiteering national utility if they see its profiteering days are coming to an end.

Well that stands to reason, but only you could use that to imply that it means Labour is about to get into power.

So you pretend to be unaware of Labour's policy to move national assets back into national ownership.

Or perhaps you are under the mistaken impression that it is Conservative policy to roll back the excesses of Thatcherism.

Unsurprisingly, savvy investors take a closer and better-informed view than you.

Read the thread's title.

Well I can see where you're coming from now, but I still think you're wrong.

...but democracy is sacrosanct, isn't it?

If Labour wins - despite all that is being said - then everyone will be supportive of it, won't they? because that's how the people will have voted and that's all that matters.

You surely don't think they would vote for the wrong thing, do you?

P.S. Wouldn't nationalising the railways save money?

Yes, thanks for raising the topic, its good to know that the Tory government has helped to reduce profiteering of the energy sector
Shame they encourage it (massively) and to the detriment to jobs and the economy, elsewhere.

centrica (british gas) are losing 300,000 customers a year, lost an additional 800,000 in cy17q4, have been buying technology companies in the US with no idea of their market, are entering markets where they now compete with apple, amazon, microsoft, google.

and their CEO has no experience of energy services. i think that might explain the fall. If they even out they would be a good buy as the dividend is solid.
